A Message from Amos Smith, President and CEO of CAANH

Amos L Smith, CEOWe are delighted that you would visit our website. It is our hope that you will find value and utilize us as a source of information in the future.  As you continue to browse there are two important things that we would like you to know:

1) Our aim is to provide services that are comprehensive, well coordinated, culturally competent, and client/family centered. The language used describes what we call the Human Services Infrastructure or HSI. CAA's across Connecticut use HSI as a preferred way to deliver services.

2) We evaluate our programs by using two distinct but separate systems of thought and they are Results Oriented Management and Accountability (ROMA), and Mark Friedman's Results Based Accountability (RBA). Both of these are ways of thinking about performance, outcomes and intended results to be achieved for programs and select populations. We believe that results matter.  They are more effectively achieved as we collaborate with our partner organizations.

Our Multi-Year Report presents a snapshot of our progress at the Community Action Agency of New Haven. We have sought to embrace our charge to serve, with dignity, as we confront the challenge of achieving results with our customers.  This report is in a format consistent with what some will understand as RBA. We have also woven a three year story regarding our work with community, family, and organization that is consistent with what others know as ROMA. The purpose of this report is to communicate the scope of our progress as we prepare ourselves to look to the future.

Amos L. Smith

President & CEO
